International Academy of Pathology - Arab Division
      The Samir Amr Award for Arab Pathology Resident

Background: The Samir Amr Award is established by the Arab Division of the International Academy of Pathology in recognition of the dedicated services of Dr. Samir Amr, the Vice-President for Asia and the ex-President of the Arab Division (2003-2005) and in acknowledgment of his long term commitment to the teaching of pathology in Arab countries and the mentoring of residents in this medical specialty.

Goal: To offer travel scholarship to pathology resident or fellow in an Arab country to attend an international pathology meeting or congress (e.g. International Academy of Pathology meeting, United States-Canadian Academy of Pathology meeting).

Nature of the Award:  The award is annual and covers travel, registration, and lodging expenses (estimated monetary value USD 3,500- 4,000).

Eligibilty: Any full-time pathology resident or fellow in a postgraduate pathology training program in an Arab country.

Application: All applications must consist of the following:

  1. A cover letter that includes the applicant’s full name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and curriculum vitae.
  2. Title and abstract of poster to be presented.
  3. Two letters of reference from individuals who are well familiar with the applicant and his/her medical and training background.

Selection Process: Complete applications must be received at least four months in advance of the scheduled date of the meeting.  All applications will be reviewed by a committee and the awardee will be notified eight weeks prior to the meeting.
